Rodent control
Even as individuals, rodents can do a lot of damage – if they are not eating because they are hungry, they have a natural need to chew. There have been cases where rats have chewed through electric cables, causing enormous damage. It is difficult to prevent them from spreading by handy means, which is why it is necessary to seek professional help to get rid of them completely.
Nesting locations: rodents are often found in living and production areas, livestock buildings, fields, gardens and other locations.
Life cycle: Rodents produce up to 20 offspring per year (up to 40 in good conditions). Rats live in colonies. They have a very clear hierarchy – a leader (the biggest and strongest), bodyguards and workers.
Frequency of culling: Continuously, at least twice a year, even when the rodent is not present.
Damage caused: in addition to the direct damage caused by destroying and spoiling food, they are vectors of many dangerous diseases.
Conditions to be met: Access to all rooms.
Mistakes that are made: The biggest mistake made is to break the continuity of the control. Poison baits should be outdoors all the time, even when there are no rodent problems.
The tools we use and how quickly they take effect: It can take more than 10 days before rats trust the taste of unfamiliar food. First, the weakest of the herd is sent to sample the food. Other rats follow him for 6 hours. If nothing happens to him during this time, the other rats will eat the food too.
Today’s long-acting poisons only work after several days, by which time the rats no longer remember what killed their companion.
